Institutional Information

It is an eight-semester undergraduate program that aims to train qualified intermediate staff, offering job opportunities in the field of public, private sector, non-governmental organizations and / or entrepreneurship to students affiliated to the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations of our faculty. Started in 1994, the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations provides education on labor-employer relations, social security, industrial democracy, wealth and income policy, and international social policy. In this context, current developments related to working life and labor economics in Turkey and the world are examined in the light of theories and discussion environments are created. In addition, the department continues to develop strong relations with non-governmental organizations, which are increasingly influential in economic and social life. Students of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations are graduated with qualifications in economic, commercial and legal fields. 


Graduates of this department can be employed in different sectors. In addition to being a human resources specialist in the private sector, they have the opportunity to be employed in various positions, as experts or managers in the public sector or trade unions.


The Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations, which is one of the most preferred departments of the faculty, has Turkish as the medium of instruction, but there are also some elective English courses. According to the data of January 2018, the formal and secondary education programs have a quota of 90 students. However, according to the update made in 2019, student admission to the second education of the department was stopped. Accordingly, the department continues its education with a formal education quota of 82 students.  Students enrolled in the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations must take all the courses in the curriculum in order to graduate from the program.
